Standard Tour at the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center
The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center is located in Divide, approximately 40 minutes from Colorado Springs. The wildlife center’s mission is to educate the public about the importance of conservation, specifically for coyotes, foxes, and wolves. One of the main ways the center educates the public is through the standard tour.
Over a Thousand Manatees Died in 2021
November is Manatee Awareness Month, which helps raise awareness for manatees and conservation efforts to protect them. Unfortunately, last year was tragic for the Florida manatee. In 2021 alone, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported at least 1,000 manatee deaths. Even though manatees don’t have any real predators, they are dying at an alarming rate. But why?
Throughout the year, the Houston Audubon Raptor & Education Center hosts several events. One of the most popular events is the Houston Audubon Raptor Photography Shoot. This program is geared towards adults and provides individuals with the chance to photograph hawks, falcons, and owls up close.
Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary is a refuge that was set aside as a bird conservation area. The sanctuary is located near State Highway 87, along Rettilon Road in Bolivar Peninsula, Texas. This land is owned and managed by the Houston Audubon and is recognized as a Globally Important Bird Area. An Important Bird Area or IBA is a piece of land that uses an international set of criteria to help with bird conservation.
